NDIS Complex Home Modifications – Bathroom and External Ramp
Transforming a standard bathroom into a haven of accessibility and inclusivity, as well as custom designing a wrap-around accessible ramp, for our NDIS participant in Emu Plains has been an incredible journey. Our lovely participant works in the disability sector, meaning she has a deep understanding of the challenges of the disability industry and how it is unique to any other industry.
PNP Constructions maintains a unique approach, including our in-house design team who works with our participants to ensure that the final product was directly catered not only to their physical requirements, but also to their aesthetic preferences. Our participant and her family saw our point of difference and recognised our PNP Constructions team as out of the box thinkers, providing her with a sense of comfort that PNP could deliver the job. Our participant’s challenges hit close to home for our Co-Founders, who had also dealt with dementia within their own family. Our PNP team knew exactly how best to help them, taking the issue away from our participant and allowing them to sit back and trust that the works would be completed to their satisfaction.
Our PNP Constructions team were entrusted with this participant’s access ramp into the home and a full modification of their bathroom. Construction for degenerative diseases can be difficult, as there are many more factors to consider during the planning and design phase. Our PNP team places a huge emphasis on treating our participants like family, and always committing to returning to support our clients, even if just to listen and keep in contact with them. For us, it is far more than a job, we are changing and impacting people’s lives.
For these participants, the bathroom required a full modification to ensure safety and accessibility. This included seamlessly integrated grab rails for safety and support, a wide cavity slider door to ensure smooth and barrier-free entry, and an accessible, spacious layout for easy movement within the bathroom. Not only are we committed to safety, but we are also committed to raising the value of our participant’s homes through smart design. For this bathroom, we focused on clean lines and simplicity. The floor-to-ceiling sleek grey tiles harmonize with the floor tiles, creating a seamless visual flow, while brushed chrome fixtures added a touch of sophistication. The block handrails and fittings not only provided an aesthetic point, but increased functionality within the bathroom through increasing visibility. It was the gorgeous timber vanity, however, that stole the show in this bathroom, acting as not just a functional element, but also a statement piece. The result is a bathroom that increases functionality through full accessibility, with the aesthetic design of a high-end bathroom.
In the outdoor area, the ramp seamlessly wraps around the house, providing compliant wheelchair access that not only meets functional needs, but elevates the property’s style. The stunning timber cladding effortlessly blends within the existing aesthetics of the property, a quality product that ensures a durable, beautiful addition that enhances both the functionality and overall look of the home. This ramp’s wrap-around design ensures a 360-degree freedom of movement, allowing our NDIS participant to navigate their home with ease and inclusivity. Every detail is meticulously planned to provide a space where accessibility meets elegance.
We love to collaborate with other providers and the people who are important to our participant’s lives to work together on a collaborative approach to create the best outcome for the participant. Nicole from Jeonsa Care spoke highly of our team, “From concept to completion, PNP really took the time to understand what we needed”. Our lovely participant and their support workers found that the finished product exceeded their expectations, not just through the quality of the finish but through the way it matched back to existing works, creating a seamless flow through.
Not only are all our works designed for full and complete compliance with Australian and NDIS standards, but PNP Constructions takes pride in creating spaces that enhance lives, building for inclusivity. Our dedication to inclusive design goes beyond compliance, creating homes where everyone feels welcome. This transformation isn’t just about bricks and mortar, it’s about fostering independence, dignity and beauty in every detail.
