NDIS Complex Home Modifications
Outdoor Ramp and Mediterranean Dream Bathroom
Our participant’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. PNP Constructions loves to give back to our community in any way that we can. At the start of one of our recent projects in Seven Hills, we met our lovely participant and their family. This participant, who served the local community within the court system for over 30 years and then found herself facing a new challenging chapter that found her requiring additional mobility assistance.
This opportunity for us to give back to her and thank her for her service to the community was not missed by our team at PNP Constructions. We ensured that her safety and comfort was at the highest level throughout works, seeing her and her family as part of PNP’s family. This allowed the participant to focus on her family and rest assured that the works would be organised by our PNP time at the most efficient and highest level.
When our in-house design team received a design brief from our participant’s Occupational Therapist, we were able to collaborate with our participant, their family and their Occupational Therapist to come up with a creative and accessible bathroom for our client which met her clinical and aspirational needs.
The PNP design team got straight to work and ensured that the design met all clinical needs by designing a shower space that provided ease for mobility and allowed for a shower commode chair. Windows were strategically added to allow for natural light while safety ensured with flush drains and a design to avoid trip hazards.
In the outside area, a larger ramp was created to allow full, unobstructed access to disability vehicles as well as emergency services, such as the ambulance.
Within the bathroom, the deluxe gold fixtures mixed with the bold blue cladding provide the Mediterranean aesthetic that our participant advised us she loved. These bold details, contrasting with the timeless grey marble tiles provide a contemporary feel. In keeping with the newly modified bathroom, PNP Constructions also renovated the second toilet, which was created in uniform with matching tiles and gold fixtures.
The most captivating focal point was a handmade blue mosaic tile feature niche, which was personally created for our participant, reflecting her love for the Mediterranean and the protection of mati (the evil eye).
In the outdoor area, our PNP Constructions team created a fully functional ramp to assist our participant in entering her property. This was created at a slight incline, which allows our participant to push herself up without too much strain, giving our participant some much desired independence. Not only does this serve the functional purpose of entering the house, but the participant also uses this ramp for her own exercise to strengthen and increase her independence. This ramp not only adds value to the house, through the visual appeal of the front of the house through the high-quality materials that match with the rest of the property, but also allows complete accessibility, even for paramedic trolleys to enter the house if needed.
To align with this ramp, our team created a veranda for our participant to use, which has become one of her favourite parts of the house, to allow her a space to do her rehabilitative exercises in the fresh air, increasing her quality of life. Our PNP Constructions team also filled the garden with native Australian plants, a detail our participants were deeply grateful for.
This is the PNP way, where every design tells a story and our participants become an integral part of our narrative. Our participants are not just clients; they’re family. We don’t just follow blueprints; we go above and beyond our client’s expectations and transform the lives of our participants.
“Thank you for your wonderful support, it means the world to us. We won the lottery when we got you guys! The flowers are beautiful, it means the world when someone cares”, our grateful participants have told us.
At PNP Constructions, we created spaces fit for a five-star hotel, because that’s what our participant’s deserve.
