The Project
Through our Australian partnerships, PNP Group was contracted for a Home Modification project in the rural area of Broken Hill. This engagement was driven by PNP’s past history with our clients and completed projects which have been held in high regard. Due to the remote location of the property, there was limited resources in the region in terms of personnel and materials. As such, the provider found it challenging to source experienced professionals and high quality materials, with central Sydney being 13 hours away from the property. PNP Group recognised these key factors and responded accordingly.
The Solution
During our in-person visit to the property, our team recognised a number of unforeseen challenges. Firstly, the walls of the client’s bathroom had a different material to the one originally listed in the scope of works. Secondly, the walls had asbestos and other foundational concerns which our team had not been made aware of previously and as such, this created a time pressure situation. However, PNP Group considered our opportunities, and we formulated various alternative solutions in order to ensure a timely project which met the required deadlines.
To begin, PNP Group rented a large property in the local area in order for our highly experienced trades professionals to have long-term accommodation while completing the project, with the additional benefit of giving back to the community and local economy. This further ensured optimal time management given that PNP’s employed trades team reside in Sydney. PNP Group further organised materials to be driven to Broken Hill to ensure the project would be completed with high quality materials that have been used by PNP before. Being a multi-trade company, PNP Group has resources in both Sydney and Adelaide and as such, materials and equipment were transported from both locations.
PNP Group further devised a project layout to ensure the timely delivery of this renovation along with the effective management of personnel and resources. This included having 8 personnel on site in rotation over the first 72 hours in order to maintain a productive work structure. For the wellbeing of our employees, PNP Group organised an allowance for every team member to fly back to Sydney to visit their family. This ensured that there was a work/life balance, a principle which PNP Group believes to be of significant importance.
The Benefits
Although PNP Group recognised a number of unforeseen challenges, our team delivered this project without any delay. Overall, the bathroom was renovated in a 12-day timeframe, prior to Christmas to ensure the client and their family could live comfortably and inclusively in their home. While other Home Modifications may take a number of weeks, or even months, our team delivered a timely project while maintaining a high level of quality, and leaving time for sightseeing in Broken Hill.
before and after images
The client’s bathroom was designed in accordance with the occupational therapist’s recommendations and NDIS standards. As such, the bathroom accommodates for the client’s clinical needs through a practical design solution, however, continues to maintain the family’s personal style and modernise the property. At PNP Group, we believe our client is our main priority and as such, they should have the freedom to choose from a range of materials and finishes in order for the final design to importantly align with their preferences.
PNP Group engaged a number of high-quality companies including Tradelink for the shower fixture, vanity and taps, Tile Power Gregory Hills for all bathroom titles, Highgrove Bathrooms for the glass material and Reece for the hand and towel rail. Through sourcing the projects materials and finishes from these companies, PNP Group was able to deliver a high-quality bathroom with an up-market design. The finished bathroom? A bathroom that is both stylish and modern while accommodating for clinical needs.
